The Analytics and Clinical Biochemistry Department offers a variety of tests for diagnosis and monitoring of patients of the Institute of Oncology as well as co-partners and external individuals. The scope of diagnostic tests  includes:

  • Hemostasis
  • Hematology
  • Endocrinology
  • Water-electrolyte and acid-base balance
  • Internal organ diseases
  • Viral infections
  • Tumor markers
  • Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
  • Clinical transfusiology

 
The staff of the Department is a highly qualified team of medical professionals, including specialists of clinical analytics, medical laboratory diagnosticians and laboratory technicians. The assays are carried out by fully automated, high quality analysers. Test results are preliminary accepted by the person responsible for the determination and next are verified and authorised by a supervising analytical process diagnosticians. Each result is supplemented with an appropriate reference ranges. Laboratory tests are carried out in accordance with the current state of medical knowledge, so as to ensure their credibility and usefulness in diagnostic and therapeutic processes. The reliability of the test results is ensured by supervising the analytical process, preanalytical and postanalytical phases, and providing internal and external quality assessment system.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY


In collaboration with other Clinical Departments of the Institute, the Department staff is involved in several research projects, aimed at searching for novel biomarkers to support diagnosis and monitoring of cancer patients. Moreover, the Department provides summer internships for college students and specialization courses for medical laboratory diagnosticians.
